esa returns with the final instalment for this highlife world series which included previous releases cuba and kenya. having been invited to attend the east africa music conference doadoa in jinja, uganda back in 2014 and again in 2015, esa shares the sounds of a new breed of talent and ideas emerging from east africa and beyond, showcases music not only from uganda but artist from burundi, rwanda, kenya and south africa who all attended the conference.

vinyl only. the second release from young and exciting hoxton records label from east london features kiril - the ukranian legend who has started making waves outside home country. the collaboration between rush arp & maurice giovannini is another beautiful track with organic sounds that can stir emotions. triptil is a rising romanian star that has already developed his own sound, which can be melancholic at times but never fails to move the dancefloor. radu mirica is another talented producer from bucharest, romania that is determined to make the future in the music industry and judging by this track, he may be well underway.

hypnosaurus is a legendary and unclassifiable estonian techno act that proved to be very influential throughout its somewhat reclusive career. a great set with some real fire inside...some serious mindbenders on here. tip!

the first release from the contrast-wax sister label, no more to roam, shifts the focus towards the real soulful elements of house music, the debut here comes from north-east based neil bilton aka fatdog, starting life as an independent record store owner in middlesbrough, fatdog has made a tidy progression into production, with releases on laaks austere recordings & his own imprint fatdog records now fatdog opens the running for no more to roam with a 3 track ep of down-tempo, laid back house music, layered with subtle synth lines, chord progressions and vocals throughout.

uber bring the new mushrooms project ep. a slight diversion for uber into the cosmic afro infused musical stylings that the mushrooms boys are masters. madrugada s tribal energy is reminiscent of tony esposito or tullio de picopo. the italian afrobalearic groove that we at uber love so much. the big boobs is a slower more contemplative track, still holding onto the percussive feel but with hints of the east. i suspect the title is influenced by last summers trip to the great outdoors in birmingham. finally we come to the epic musical journey that is african obsession. continuing the fine italian tradition of tribal dance music this is a tight superbly produced trip into afrocosmiche. 15 minutes of hypnotic beauty. uber hitting the spot again.

young east london producer sam palace walker has been part of dj haus trusted inner circle for some time, having released on both unknown 2 the unknown and hot haus records

bomb! first release on subwax black label series sees the swedish dream team signing ibrahimovic on the a-side making the debut in fine style. the track camp nou is one hell of a techno belter and will leave no serious techno crowd unremarked. on the b-side the new face from the east velez weaves together patterns inspired by dusty machines, black magic and slavic paganism for the track black wool.

the imprint has come a long way since its launch in early 2011 with four years under its belt and a catalogue featuring reputable names such as huxley, dj w!ld, julian perez and east end dubs. here we see the label push on with a collaborative release from swiss producer dan noel, most notably known for his work on memoria recordings and little helpers, and germany s bunte bummler of cécille records / 8bit fame.

from the lands that time forgot birdie is proud to bring you an ep of the highest quality from the artist currently know as causa. hailing somewhere from up in the hills on the border between deepest darkest east lancashire and west yorkshire (thats up north to you lot) causa joe is a long time friend of trevino marcus. joe is underground and a lover of proper house music and has never been interested in music trends (he is a fisherman for christ sakes). he has been making music under various guises for 15 years with an apparent 6 year gap to go fishing. he has had releases with 202/20 vision tusk wax and paper recordings to name but a few. as marcus and joe still meet regularly for a pie and a pint its no real surprise then that this ep of some of marcuss favourite music of joes has come to pass. enjoy.

matches sets the scene alight in the early months of 2015 with this multi-faceted four track burner on arkhive london. having cut his teeth on the east london party circuit as a dj under various monikers, matches has carved a superior workout inspired by some of motor citys foremost ambassadors of dark funk. this package is a full expose of his range as a producer, starting out with some early evening swagger before easing through the gears to a climax of an altogether housier ilk.

reissue of elias rahbani & his orchestras super rare arabic disco holy grail *liza liza* on the original lebanese voix de l orient label. recorded pre-civil war at a time when beirut was known as the paris of the middle east, a luxurious holiday destination and flourishing trade centre. the title track is totally out of this world, perfectly blending eastern & western vocals, instruments and musical influences with a driving disco bassline to create an irresistible floor filling cosmic odyssey. the flipside features the even more out-there *from the moon* a fantastic tripped out psychedelic disco funk monster, followed by the dreamy accordion-led *summer love*. also boasting one of the sexiest covers in disco history further illustrating the liberal thinking and western influence in lebanon at the time. highly recommended!

the third release from wavefreform again comes to us from the east, and this time around it marks a reformation of sound for both the label and the artist. half of the long-running georgian duo greenbeam & leon, boyd schidt is a producer with over a decade of work already under his belt whose first releases emerged in 2007. as a solo artist, his career dates to 2010 with digital releases on georgia’s front rec, fvf records, and emote music, and a track on the new vinyl compilation from studio r°. with the hard, broken kick pattern, elevated tempo, and nods to electro, the a-side ‘phantom’, a collaboration with subex, is a change of pace for the artist and the hardest thing yet to emerge from wavereform. dubwise use of effects shows the same hands still at work, but the sound elements, granulated blasts of static and drop-based structure of the track hold strong parallels to the rejuvenated techno sound currently emerging from the uk. the b-side, ‘structure’, recalls the previous work of the artist: subtle, building dub techno rich in detail and with the dancefloor firmly in mind. there is clear experience at work here with his deliberate deployment and manipulation of elements as the track struts along while enveloping the listener in its smaller details. as it pauses and takes an extended breakdown, the details rush forwards, but it finds renewed force to power itself to the close. coming in this case from an established producer with a long history, this kind of control is not surprising, but it is more indication of the riches of the east that have yet to be discovered by audiences worldwide.

sonofdistantearth finally releases his debut parachute ep, exploring a raw and textured blend of techno ideas drawing from the epic melodies of us contemporaries such as levon vincent whilst evoking the desk-crushing saturation of the very same east coast noise-techno scene.

gallic cynosure agoria debuts on the hotflush roster with helice – a compelling, propelling record that envelopes and encompasses. blending an ambience of eerie sci-fi over suspense-laden peaks and troughs, it goes after body and mind in equal measure. its b-side counterpart is make it real, a jacking house number cut through with a classic rhodes bounce. the latent garage disposition is brought to the fore by ess, whose remix nods to the east coast glory days of yore.

brilliant new balearic house ep from copenhagens music for dreams label. the opening track came to life when two danish djs - mads dalholt and zimino - made their own remixed version of al jawalas *go east* for playing out. mfd label head kenneth bager heard it, loved it, tested it out on his coma club dancefloor and it drove the crowd nuts with people literally screaming for more rewinds of this pumping horn-blasting oriental in-your-face party track. if you are a fan of acid arab and 80s leo mas/afredo style amnesia dancefloor madness then this one is for you. on side b we have the debut track from mads dalholt and partner landers - *zengo* is a sexy uplifting house groover with spacey keyboards, afro vocal hooks and a lively sax. followed by a second landers/dalholt cut, the slower more balearic *aelba* is built around a simple melodic guitar riff with some mellow xylophone bringing a warm sunshine feel. great debut for the young danes.

*eat my pussy* is the delightfully nasty debut solo release from latvian artist anet k., coming out on pomelo november 24th. the title track, featuring anets vocals and production, functions as both a demand and endearing request, fusing her encyclopaedic knowledge of electro with a cunning lyrical twist. with such a explicit title, it should come as no surprise that the inspiration for *eat my pussy* comes from firsthand experience. anet k. is no stranger to the scene – as a long-term resident of berlin she has contributed vocals to several recent releases, including barkers *like an animal* on leisure system. for the remixes, dj stingray presents the vocals as an even more aggressive command, while the legendary egyptian lover raps some addictive verses and completely revamps the arrangement, presenting his personal ode to cunnilingus in an earworm chorus. on the dance floor or between the sheets: you wont forget *eat my pussy* anytime ...

analogue attic is a record label based in melbourne, australia. showcasing the gentle side of electronic music down under. the first release from aar, good morning passengers introduces local duo albrecht la brooy. the belgrave train line travels 42kms south east from melbourne s busy flinders street to the peaceful gum forests of the dandenong ranges. good morning passengers explores life on the belgrave line, urban gentrification, multiculturalism and the journey from the suburbs to the rainforest.

colors, the east-london party collective has been on a roll as of late, with a spate of successful events that have taken them across europe to berlin, istanbul and barcelona to name a few countries. as the name suggests, each event draws inspiration from the colour spectrum, with guests encouraged to dress up in a different chosen shade each night to get down to a soundtrack influenced by deep house, funk, disco and techno.

operating from the heart of brooklyn, ny, the latest artist to sign up to ornate is jordan, whose plush deep house sound has already surfaced via a collaboration with fred p on the deep explorer compilation far & beyond. living on the border of the bushwick and ridgewood neighbourhoods, the title of the ep is a nod to the difference jordan sees between his own spiritual, detailed work and the trend for rougher analogue sounds that have been sweeping the city he calls home. with a focus on expressive, richly melodic synths and delicately balanced rhythms, his music stands apart from the wave of guttural lo-fi sonics, and yet this is still house music with that east coast punch where it counts. with an imminent release for the noted finale sounds imprint establishing jordan well within the remit of high-end house and techno, it gives us great pleasure to present these exercises in soulful immersion, from the three 4/4 driven pieces to the ambient vignette -visage-. with the door open for more experimental interpretations, it made perfect sense to invite former ornate guest leif back to turn out a remix of the track, his own hushed tones having recently graced a critically-acclaimed debut album for fear of flying. it s the ideal complement to an ep of highly developed musicianship that spells another exciting step forward for both jordan and ornate.

negghead and lex wolf form acid mondays and together the two have released music with 20:20 vision, circus, deep vibes and illusion recordings. illusion give acid mondays the full treatment after the duos salvia sessions 12inch from last year sold out almost instantly. smith, who appeared on the original 12inch, provides an additional unreleased remix while deepblak label head aybees reshuffles the original, burying it deep in chords and reflective vocal delays. not to miss out on the production action acid mondays provide their own east end dub to watching eastwood and invite z records producer dan goldman to play keys over the top as jd73.

in the late 60s early 70s many american soldiers where stationed all over germany. among those where musicians who played in several army bands like the east of underground who recorded a now sought after album after they had won the special services entertainment showband contest held in frankfurt in 1971. nobody knows which other bands participated in this contest, maybe also the soul explosion which were stationed in augsburg, upper bavaria. around the same time, a man named charles held opened a club in augsburg town called tarantel. furthermore he was running a record label of the same name on which he released a handful of 7inch singles from different, local bands, mainly not funky at all though. the soul explosions release remains the only one in the field of american soul & funk music. the band recorded a fantabulous double sider, one deep funk side with a soulful ballad on the flip which makes both hardcore funk and soul collectors happy. unfortunately there is no more information available about the band, only that they even performed live at the tarantel club.

is it purposely ironic that guysfromneighbourhood are releasing on a label thats named after a part of east london thats as gentrified as it is dishevelled? speech less is whats been delivered and its a popping, deeply dubby and smooth production thats made for the dusk of a berlin afternoon thats becoming evening. argentine producer nacho bolognani beefs up the original with something more solidified (youll find yourself dancing to the bassline not the beats), while matt rich delivers more of a reduction than remix. a strong debut release.

manchester artist belly is back with his second ep of 2014 released through his new inprint belly dance and this time he is joined by east end soul vocalist shona carmen & one half of asphodells tiimothy j fairplay on the remix. the second ep see s belly up the pace slightly from his inagural release moving slightly away of the slow beat of tracks like dark autumn and farewell and embark on a sligtly more up tempo , swing style bordering on the style of machine drum. the first track control is a hazy club track with strong vocals from both belly & shona backed up by drum and bass beats which is followed by vocal heavy space beats in the form of zu . on the flip side we see the real inpact of shona carmen with a clubtrack loaded with summer vibes called painting . the vocals are soulfull and beautiful with a swing tempo and drum patterns that lift throughout. this is followed by timothy j fairplay bringing in his own take on 90 s chicago garage music with a banging clubtrack remix of dark autumn off of belly dance 001.
